Friend,
This last week was loaded with
important legal developments in the fight for your rights, and next
week is looking like it could be a total blockbuster as well, starting
Monday!
That’s why we wanted to email you
and keep you informed, Friend. Here’s what you may have missed, as
well as a preview of next week’s action:
First, we look ahead to this Monday when the Trump
Admin will be joining FPC in oral arguments in our “assault weapons”
case, Harrel v. Raoul.
This exciting development puts the
wind at our back and could add to our chances of victory over this
treasonous assault on the People’s rights!
But that’s not all, because FPC has
asked the Supreme Court to intervene in our other “assault weapons”
case, Viramontes v. Cook
County, which could have
ripple effects NATIONWIDE.
And as of right now, the government’s response to our case
is due on or before this coming Friday. You’re going to want to keep
your eyes on this one.
Finally, here’s what you may have
missed during this last week in gun rights:
-
Wednesday, Sept. 17th: The NRA, ASA, and Independence Institute filed an amicus brief
in support of a petition for en banc rehearing in the NFA suppressor
case U.S. v.
Peterson.
-
Thursday, Sept. 18th: The Federal Government filed an amicus brief in support of FPC
in our “assault weapons” challenge, Cheeseman v. Platkin.
-
Friday, Sept. 19th: The Third Circuit granted a motion for extension to file an en
banc petition in FPC’s NJ public carry ban case, Koons v. Platkin.
-
Friday, Sept. 19th: FPC filed a response brief to the federal government’s argument
to limit injunctions to only the named individual plaintiffs at the
District Court on Friday in our federal gun ban case, Reese v. ATF.
As you can see, there has been a
flurry of activity in cases challenging the National Firearms Act, as
well as bans on so-called “assault weapons!”
When we promised major action on these two fronts last
month, we meant it, Friend. And rest assured, there is plenty more to
come!
We will continue to update you as
more news comes in regarding fights affecting your Second Amendment
rights. But in the meantime, YOU can help us Fight Forward!
