Hi John, This week, Boris Johnson delivered a huge let down. On Tuesday the prime minister gave his first major speech on how the government will support the economy as lockdown eases. But instead of announcing a plan to future-proof the UK and prioritise people and the planet, the PM unveiled a roadmap that will take us back to business as usual. [1] With a new poll revealing just 6% of the public 'want a return to a pre-pandemic economy' [2], this is a moment where there should be no slump back to the past. That's why we're ramping up our campaign for a green recovery -- an unprecedented injection of cash to create green jobs, reduce inequality, and help restore nature. [3] By planning together, we'll have a far greater chance of winning this. So can you take part by filling in a survey on what we do next? Here's the first question to get started:
How much do you agree with the following statement? While the world's focus is quite rightly on the coronavirus crisis, the climate and nature crisis has not gone away. Already this year, temperature records have been broken and a searing heat wave has swept Siberia. [4, 5] With coronavirus forcing us all to take a hard look at how the world works, many experts are calling for a 'green recovery'. [6] Achieving it will mean pumping an unprecedented amount of cash into the economy, investing it in green infrastructure and clean industries. We know that this campaign is no small ask. But these last few months have shown us that, when people work together, huge challenges can be overcome. Can you make sure we have the greatest impact by filling in this survey on how we can scale up our campaign? It takes 4 minutes to fill in and here's the first question:
How much do you agree with the following statement? The Covid-19 crisis has made it clear that the world desperately needs to change. And with lockdown easing, we know that the way we respond in the coming weeks and months will shape our world for decades to come. Together, we can build a safer, fairer, healthier future - but we'll need to fight for it. So please let us know how we should work together next by clicking the links above to share your views. With all my thanks,
Richard Casson
