Let’s make sure this year’s platforms support Palestinian rights

Dear Supporter,

After much uncertainty due to the coronavirus, the Democratic and Republican Parties have set their plans for their national conventions to nominate their candidates for president.

The Democratic National Convention will be meeting in Milwaukee, August 17-20, and the Republican National Convention will be meeting in Charlotte and Jacksonville, August 24-27.

Part of the national convention process is the writing of the party platform, an extremely important document which guides the policies of the party’s elected officials for the next four years.

It’s our job to tell the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Republican National Committee (RNC) to support Palestinian rights in their platforms, and we need you to take action today!

The DNC just announced that you can add your voice to its 2020 platform by recording a short video here. AMP urges you, Supporter, to tell the DNC why Palestine is important to you and why it should support Palestinian rights in its platform.

Click here for instructions on how to submit your video and when it is posted please share it on your social media with #PlatformforPalestine and tag @AMPalestine so we see it.

But be sure to record your video right away! The DNC will be holding its last public hearing tonight and drafting the platform on July 15. Make your voice heard right now! Contact us if you would like help with any talking points for your video.

Although the RNC already announced that it will be re-adopting its 2016 platform this year and not having a new platform drafting process, it’s still important for us to let the party know that Palestinian rights should be included in their platform as well!

Supporter, please take a few minutes to tell the RNC why Palestine is important to you and why it should support Palestinian rights in its platform.

Click here to contact the RNC and post your message to your social media with #PlatformforPalestine and tag @AMPalestine so we see it. Contact us if you would like help with any talking points for your message.

As a nonprofit organization, AMP is not allowed to support or oppose particular political parties or candidates, but we are permitted to try to get the parties to adopt our policy positions--and we’ll be attempting to do that between now and November.

Stay tuned for additional ways you can get involved in that process.

Sincerely,

Osama Abuirshaid

Executive Director

P.S. Although Israel did not proceed with annexation plans yesterday, the possibility of it doing so in the near future is very likely. Join AMP and its chapters tomorrow, Friday, July 3, for prayers and protests in the following cities opposing Israeli annexation.
