The Republican Party, which has campaigned for years on defending free speech, has become the party of censorship.

This week, the Trump Administration pressured the network to take Jimmy Kimmel off the air because they didn’t like what he was saying during his show. 

Then, the president suggested that any broadcaster who criticizes him or his administration should be punished for their dissent.

This is not a democracy—it’s fascism.

I am appalled by the disregard for our First Amendment rights and the blatant censorship of the media. In a democratic country, no one should be punished for disagreeing with the government. 

If he can come after prominent speakers, he can come for all of us.
