John, there’s a lot going on right now, but one thing I want to make clear: we will not get through this moment by throwing empathy out the door.

We need warriors and empaths to stand up.

We need people who are willing to be loud, to be unabashed, and to fight back. But we also need leaders who can listen deeply to the needs of Americans.

People are struggling — to afford groceries, to afford a roof over their heads, and to afford childcare. People who have spent their lives working are worried about retirement. Young people are worried they’ll never be able to afford a home.

Too many politicians boast about how America’s economy recovered faster than almost any other country after the pandemic. They’re right, but who cares?

Nobody cares about those wins when they still feel their wallets tightening. Read the room.

I’m not doing this work to score points and win arguments, John — I’m fighting to build an economy that actually works for working people in Vermont and across the country.

If you’re with me in this fight, can I count on your support today?

Our democracy is not a zero-sum game — we can, and must, be warriors and empaths if we’re going to alleviate suffering and make life better for everyday people.

Thank you for your support,

Becca
