There are many reasons why Donald Trump is so worked up over the NYC Mayoral election, but this one stands out: he knows Zohran Mamdani would fiercely oppose his authoritarian power grabs.
Trump is a bully. He’s always been a bully. It’s how he behaved as a businessman, and it’s how he behaves in the White House: bend the knee or face the consequences.
This worked on Mayor Eric Adams, who allegedly offered to cooperate with Trump’s rabid deportation machine as long as the DOJ dropped their corruption charges against him.1
But it won’t work on Zohran Mamdani.
That’s why Trump is panicking. He even threatened to revoke New York City’s funding if he wins.2 But in NYC and across the country, we need leaders who won’t back down to his empty threats. And with your help, we’ll be sure to help push Zohran across the finish line.
