Updates from D.C.
The FREE SPEECH Act of 2025
This week, I introduced the FREE SPEECH Act of 2025. This legislation would ensure the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) cannot be weaponized by any presidential administration to push partisan politics onto the American people.

Epstein Didn’t Need a Deal; He Needed Prison
Yesterday, the Oversight Committee sat down with Alex Acosta. What we heard confirmed what we already knew: he cut a sweetheart deal for Epstein, silenced victims, and let a predator walk free.
I sat down with CNN's Jake Tapper after. Watch the full interview here.

Trump Pardoned Rapists & Pedophiles — And Republicans Call It Law & Order
While Republicans push crime bills and try to strip second chances from young people, I reminded them that the real threat to law and order sits at the top: a twice-impeached, 34-count convicted felon who turned the U.S. government into a safe haven for predators and criminals.
This wasn’t just about calling out hypocrisy. It was about putting on record what’s really happening: corruption, lawlessness, and a Republican Party that would rather protect the powerful than protect the people.

The FBI’s Biggest Threat Isn’t Crime — It’s Kash Patel
In this week's House Judiciary Committee hearing, I had to set the record straight. Kash Patel is the least qualified FBI Director in history. On his watch, white supremacists run free, qualified staff are pushed out, and he refuses to even name right-wing extremism as the top threat. I have ZERO confidence in him to keep Americans safe.

Demanding Transparency on Conditions in ICE Detention Facilities

A few weeks ago, I went down to El Paso to see what’s really happening inside Camp East Montana, and let me tell you, what I heard and what I’ve since learned doesn’t add up.
People in ICE custody still deserve due process and a lawyer. Period. Anything less is unconstitutional.
That’s why I’m calling on DHS to come clean and make sure ICE is following the law.

Republicans Protect Pedophiles While Ignoring Climate Chaos & Corruption
Republicans claim to care about “efficiency” and “accountability”, but the truth is they’ve been too busy protecting pedophiles, enriching billionaires, and covering for Donald Trump’s corruption.
In an Oversight hearing, I laid out how Trump’s administration has turned the government into the world’s largest Ponzi scheme: dismantling science, gutting healthcare, attacking food assistance, and defunding universities—all while farm bankruptcies surge and children go hungry.

Stop Policing Words, Start Preventing Violence
I joined CNN to respond to questions on free speech, political violence, and the misuse of DOJ and FBI priorities.
