My path to Congress was anything but typical.

I grew up the son of Vietnamese refugees. I worked in my family’s corner store, served in the Army, and later opened a small business. Those experiences are why I fight so hard for working families, families like mine.

My parents came here after the fall of Saigon determined to give their kids a better life. They worked long hours in their corner store, relying on Medicaid and food assistance when times got tough. Those programs gave us a foothold, and I chose to serve in uniform to give back to the country that gave us a chance.

I never expected to run for office. But when I saw politicians disappoint us by siding with the wealthy and powerful time and again, I couldn’t stay on the sidelines.

Now, after flipping CA-45 by just 653 votes, Republicans are pouring millions into this district because they know control of the House could come down to this seat.
