SUMMER UPDATES

John, we are gearing up for a tough year ahead. The NYC City Council just passed the FY21 city budget and as anticipated, we've seen our budget cut. That means we will be relying on your support for the upcoming year to ensure that our programs stay afloat!
Regardless, we want to take a moment to recognize our champions at City Council who have continued to support our work amid the fiscal crisis

Council Member Daneek Miller
Speaker Corey Johnson
Council Member Brad Lander
Council Member Daniel Dromm
Council Member Mark Levine
Council Member Farah Louis
Council Member Keith Powers
Council Member Justin Brannan

The budget that has passed isn't perfect, there's still a lot of work that needs to be done on behalf of communities of color and we will ensure that we're at the forefronts of the struggle to ensure our city is an equitable and just society.

That's why our summer programs are so critical. We're gearing up to launch our virtual social justice book club for youth! Participants have chosen the book, The Color of the Law as the first book to read in our book club.

The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government ...

We will be launching one more book club this summer for adults! Stay tuned for updates on that front. In addition to this, we're continuing our push to get #MuslimsCount counted for the Census. To date, we've helped 2,000 households be counted in the Census. Check out our upcoming events and our fiscal year achievements. Once again, counting on your blessings!

With Gratitude,
