This week, I introduced the Fair and Accountable IRS Reviews Act to protect taxpayers and restore integrity to the IRS penalty process.
Right now, any IRS employee deemed a “supervisor” can greenlight penalties against taxpayers even if they’ve had little or no involvement with the case. That’s not real accountability.
My bill changes that by requiring an agent’s direct supervisor to review and approve proposed penalties before they are assessed. This safeguard will prevent unnecessary or unfair fines and protect hardworking Americans from bureaucratic overreach.
On Wednesday, I was proud to see the bill pass through the House Ways and Means Committee with unanimous, bipartisan support. This is a major step toward restoring fairness and ensuring the IRS answers to the American people, not the other way around.

At Tuesday’s Oversight Committee hearing, I questioned a legal expert on the Biden Administration’s EPA and its harmful reclassification of Wisconsin’s air quality status.
The EPA recently moved large portions of Wisconsin into a more restrictive “serious” nonattainment category under the Clean Air Act, even though ozone levels along the Lake Michigan shoreline are down 22% over the last 20 years. This decision ignores Wisconsin’s progress and punishes our state for pollution that largely blows in from Illinois and Indiana.
If enforced, this reclassification would stifle job growth, delay construction projects, and force manufacturers to spend heavily on new equipment—despite the fact that Wisconsin regulators and businesses have been acting in good faith to reduce emissions.
Thankfully, the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals has stepped in, issuing a stay on the EPA’s rule. That means Wisconsin remains in “moderate” nonattainment status while the case moves forward. This is an important win for Wisconsin workers, businesses, and families.

On Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee held a critical hearing with FBI Director Kash Patel.
After years of politicization and weaponization under the Biden Administration, the American people have lost trust in the FBI. Under President Trump’s leadership and with Director Patel at the helm, we are finally beginning to see real reforms to return the FBI to its core mission: protecting the American people, not advancing a political agenda.
Director Patel made clear that his priorities are rooting out corruption, ending political bias, and rebuilding transparency. That means no more targeting parents at school board meetings, no more ignoring border-related crime, and no more double standards when it comes to enforcing the law.
The FBI is one of our nation’s most important agencies, and it must serve the American people. House Republicans will continue working with Director Patel to ensure that the FBI puts America First and never again strays from its mission.

This week, the House of Representatives took bold action to restore law and order in our nation’s capital by passing two critical bills. Both measures build on President Trump’s mission of making Washington, D.C. a safer place for families, workers, and visitors alike.
For too long, progressive policies from the D.C. Council have created an environment where criminals face little accountability and violent crime continues to rise. These bills send a clear message: crime will not be ignored, and offenders will face real consequences.
✅ H.R. 4922 – DC CRIMES Act This bill restores accountability by blocking the D.C. Council from advancing soft-on-crime sentencing policies. It ensures individuals from 18 to 24 are tried as adults, not juveniles, and removes judicial loopholes that allowed lighter sentences for serious offenders. It also requires the D.C. Attorney General to publish juvenile crime data online, ensuring transparency and accountability.
✅ H.R. 5140 – DC Juvenile Sentencing Reform Act This bill lowers the age at which violent juvenile offenders can be tried as adults from 16 to 14. Crimes such as murder, armed robbery, and first-degree sexual abuse devastate communities, and this bill ensures that young offenders who commit these serious acts face adult-level consequences.
Together, these reforms strengthen public safety, uphold the rule of law, and make it clear that Washington, D.C. will not be a haven for violent crime. By advancing these bills, House Republicans are standing with President Trump and the American people in demanding safer streets and stronger accountability.

Wednesday was Constitution Day. On September 17, 1787, the Constitution was signed, laying the foundation for our great nation. It enshrined the principles of liberty, limited government, and individual rights that still define America today.
These ideals are not just words on paper; they are the safeguards of our freedom. And every day, they are tested. That’s why we must remain vigilant, standing firm in defense of the Constitution and the values that make our country strong.

On Thursday, we honored all who have served in the United States Air Force. Since 1947, they have stood as a symbol of American strength, unmatched in skill, power, and dedication.
From protecting our skies to advancing aviation and technology, their service keeps our nation safe and our freedoms secure. We are forever grateful.
