For Pride Month, my girls helped us hang the rainbow flag by our door — the same way we put up pumpkins in October or twinkly lights in December. But it wasn’t just about celebration. It’s about resistance. It’s about protection. It’s about love — radical, defiant love.

Right now, LGBTQIA people — especially trans kids — are under attack. Not just from bullies in the schoolyard, but from politicians with pens. Anti-trans laws are spreading like wildfire. Book bans. Bathroom bans. Healthcare bans.

All while too many Democrats stay silent, afraid to take a firm stance because it might “cost votes.”

Let’s be clear: if your strategy requires sacrificing people’s rights, it’s not a strategy — it’s cowardice.

As a mom, I know what it means to fight like hell to protect your kids.

LGBTQIA families deserve that same fierce defense. They deserve lawmakers who don't just say "Love is love" in June — but who legislate like it all year long.

This isn’t about party politics. It’s about human dignity. Our democracy can’t claim to “promote the general welfare” while letting an entire community be erased.

My kids are watching. Your kids are watching. So let’s show them what it means to show up for one another — fully, joyfully, and unapologetically.
