Let me be clear: Donald Trump is silencing people he disagrees with. This isn’t just an attack on comedy – it’s an attack on democracy.
As the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, I am launching an investigation into ABC, Sinclair, and Trump’s FCC for firing Jimmy Kimmel and canceling his show.
This is a major moment for free speech, for oversight, and for our democracy. And it’s going to take all of us standing up and speaking out to show Trump and his MAGA friends that we will not be silent.
Freedom of speech and the First Amendment are the cornerstones of our country, and they are now under attack.
It’s simply outrageous that Donald Trump is trying to silence dissent. We cannot – and will not – let him get away with this.
