Donald Trump has said for years that he wants to punish and outlaw political dissent… and now he’s doubling down on that promise by targeting the New York Times.
But we won’t let him get away with it. That’s why we’re asking 1,000 Democrats to join us in standing strong with the New York Times against Trump’s attacks.
Will you sign our petition right now??
He filed a $15 billion lawsuit against the New York Times, alleging defamation and accusing the news organization of being a “virtual mouthpiece” for the Democratic Party.
And team, let’s just call this what it is: a textbook authoritarian stunt. Luckily, the New York Times isn't backing down:
The New York Times Responds to Lawsuit Filed by President Donald Trump | September 16, 2025
“This lawsuit has no merit… It lacks any legitimate legal claims and instead is an attempt to stifle and discourage independent reporting. The New York Times will not be deterred by intimidation tactics. We will continue to pursue the facts without fear or favor.”

Thankfully, a federal judge just dismissed Trump's lawsuit and called it "improper" and "invective" — proving just how unconstitutional Trump's attacks are on free press.
But team, we know that this is still just the beginning of Trump's attacks. And we can’t let the New York Times' bravery go in vain, because going toe-to-toe with a sitting president is a huge risk.
That’s why we’re circulating this urgent petition to prove overwhelming support for the New York Times amidst Trump’s attacks.
So, will you be [1] of [1,000] Democrats to sign our petition to STAND with the New York Times??
Thanks for signing,
Hold the Line
