John,
Last week, a court—whose judges were all appointed by Greg Abbott—ruled against Ken Paxton and threw out his baseless restraining order against Powered by People.
It was a major win. Not just for us, but for the foundational principle that no one—not even the chief law enforcement officer of the state—can silence Texans who are organizing, mobilizing, and using their first amendment right to speak freely.
But here’s the hard truth: It has already cost us nearly $400,000 to defend ourselves from this political attack.
That’s money that should have gone into registering voters, holding town halls, and reaching communities that will decide the next election.
And while we were busy defending ourselves, they kept attacking-because they’re scared of our movement.
Now we have the chance to shift the narrative—and the momentum.
We chose to defend ourselves against these attacks, to fight back, because our work is critical to the future of this country and because we’re sick of watching the conventional centers of power—like Disney/ABC which just cancelled Jimmy Kimmel—bend the knee to these thugs. We’re taking this fight directly to them, winning important victories in courts from El Paso County to the 15th Court of Appeals. We want to show that in Texas, our knees don’t bend.
Will you help us fight to win with a $3 donation to Powered by People today?
I don’t take a salary from Powered by People. Just like thousands of our other volunteers, every hour I put into this work is because I believe in this state and our country, and in what we can accomplish when we work together.
That’s why Paxton came after us in the first place. He knows what we’re doing can change what’s possible for Texas and for America.
But to finish this fight—and win it—we need to rebuild what we lost and take this movement as far as it can go.
If you’re with us, I’m asking you to step up today.
