It's been a busy week here in Washington, D.C. President Trump and his Congressional Republicans are marching us toward a government shutdown with the funding deadline looming on September 30. House Republicans jammed through a partisan continuing resolution, and they have no plan to lower your healthcare costs.

Defending our humanity at the Broadview ICE facility

A peaceful demonstration turned violent when ICE agents clashed with protestors outside of an U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing center in Broadview, Illinois.
President Trump’s ICE is treating people like ANIMALS — not human beings.
This is not okay. This is not the America I know. This is deplorable.
I’m fighting against this administration and its Gestapo tactics.

I stood with House Democrats to Save Healthcare

Republican leadership refused to come to the bipartisan table to negotiate in good faith, and now, they’ve taken President Trump’s orders in stride to jam through a partisan funding bill.

For 91 pages, Republicans crammed random provisions in the continuing resolution — but did nothing to save Americans' healthcare or lower costs. If Republicans continue to ignore our bipartisan offers, millions of Americans will lose their healthcare or see their healthcare premiums skyrocket. I will not support a partisan spending bill that strips away Americans’ access to healthcare, which is why I voted no.

Introduced the SHINE Act

On Thursday, I met Debbie Haine — the mom of Autumn Joy who was stillborn. Debbie turned her pain into action to prevent other families from the same heartbreaking experience of stillbirths.

I introduced the bipartisan SHINE for Autumn Act with Congresswomen Young Kim and Kathy Castor to improve data and research around stillbirths. Every mother deserves hope.
