The government is on the brink of a shutdown on September 30th, leaving little time to find a solution—that is, if Republicans can find a way. They had plenty of time to present a bipartisan spending bill to House Democrats, but chose not to.
Instead, they brought their partisan spending bill to the floor this week, a bill that not only fails to help working families but actively makes their lives harder.
Before the vote, I joined House Democrats in opposing the bill, emphasizing its potential long-term negative impacts nationwide. This reckless spending comes after some of the largest cuts to Medicaid and Medicare, and the refusal to extend ACA premium tax credits will only make these problems worse.
