Over the course of 2025, Donald Trump has taken the United States further and further down the path towards authoritarianism. He has attempted to defy the constitution to eliminate birthright citizenship, dismantled and defunded critical federal agencies, detained and imprisoned people like Mahmoud Khalil who spoke out against genocide, and deployed federal troops on the streets of Los Angeles and DC. As a result of Trump’s decisions, millions of people could soon lose their healthcare; agencies that safeguard our health, support veterans, and keep our air and water clean have been gutted; and countless Americans are living in fear of being snatched from the street by masked agents and separated from their families.

In the face of this assault on our democratic rights, Congress has done far too little. Republican members of Congress have rubber-stamped and applauded every one of Trump’s moves, while even many Democrats have sided with Trump and voted to approve his nominees and his agenda at critical moments.

You deserve to know whether your elected officials are complicit in the ongoing dismantling of our democracy. We analyzed hundreds of votes between January 20 and July 21, 2025 to bring you the Collaborator Index — a full accounting of how much your elected officials chose to side with Trump over the first six months of his second term.
