This proposed rule change would require proof of citizenship—in time for the 2026 election.
Patriot–

I have an urgent, yet simple call to action for you. The Election Assistance Commission (EAC) is taking public comment on a petition to require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship on the National Mail Voter Registration Form. The comment window closes Monday, October 20th. If you believe only citizens should register and vote in federal elections, now is the time to say so—clearly, respectfully, and on the record.

Submit your comment using our form and we will forward your comment on for you.

What about the SAVE Act?

This does not replace our push for the SAVE Act. Even if the EAC grants this petition and updates the federal form, we still need Congress to pass the SAVE Act so the standard is codified in law and can’t be rolled back by future bureaucrats. Think of this as doing both: take the win we can work on today while we keep pressing for the long-term win in Congress.

You can bet the Left will flood the EAC with comments against this. They despise the idea of requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote. Furthermore, this would be the rule under which the 2026 election would operate, even if the Senate hasn’t passed the SAVE Act by then.

Don’t sit this one out. It may seem like one of those actions that doesn’t matter much, or you might think other people will leave enough comments to drown out the Left’s—but both of these of thoughts are incorrect! The EAC will not make this rule change if it looks like Americans don’t care. It will also make it much harder to get the SAVE Act passed because the senators who oppose it or on the fence will see that our side doesn’t care enough to submit a simple comment.

In a few sentences, explain why proof of citizenship matters, how it protects everyone’s vote, and why it’s worth the little bit of work it takes to show proof. If you’ve worked elections, include what you’ve seen. Make sure you point out that those who are opposed to this rule change lie when they say it will disenfranchise voters, such as married women who have changed their last names. In fact, we put together a myth vs. fact sheet to answer these sorts of objections that you may find useful as you write your comment.

Then ask the EAC to grant the petition and amend its regulations and the federal registration form accordingly.

So, remember:

  • Comment by October 20th. Use our form to submit your comment quickly and easily.

  • Share this call to action with everyone you know who believes that only Americans should vote in American elections.

Let’s get this done—comment now, keep pushing the SAVE Act, and protect our elections!

In liberty,

Jenny Beth Martin
