Movement family, here’s a sobering statistic: Only 1% of the US population contributed nearly 80% of all political contributions in 2023-2024. We’re talking about a tiny fraction of the public funding the majority of our democratic process. Our democracy is heavily influenced by money — a resource that is not democratized. That doesn’t feel very democratic.

Since day one, we've powered our campaign with small-dollar donations. Because to us, a whole bunch of folks chipping in $20 is a lot more powerful than one corporation writing a big check. And $20 at a time adds up to build a powerful grassroots movement — fighting to reshape our government so that it works for everyone, not just the top 1%.

Running a campaign like this is a powerful demonstration of how we can get big money out of politics. But this type of grassroots fundraising structure only works if everyone who can pitch in $20 does. And right now, as billionaires, corporate PACs, and special interests pour more and more into politics, we need to show that our grassroots movement is strong.
