Ohio Governor Mike DeWine visited Wright State University for the Ohio Defense and Aerospace Forum. The forum provided an opportunity for defense installation leadership, community leaders, industry representatives, and elected officials to connect, build awareness, and gain a deeper understanding of the current defense environment and the role they play in supporting all facets of national defense. This was an opportunity to highlight Ohio’s defense and aerospace assets to senior industry and Pentagon leadership, attracting more mission and industry to Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and MacGillivray Freeman Films invite audiences to experience the new movie "Ohio: Wild at Heart" created for IMAX® and giant screen theaters.
“Bringing Ohio’s great outdoors to the big screen is a great way to showcase why Ohio truly is the Heart of it All,” said Governor DeWine. “We hope Ohioans go to the movies and experience the natural beauty and wonder of our state in a whole new way.”

Governor DeWine announced [ [link removed] ] that the Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved his request [ [link removed] ] for a disaster declaration for flooding that impacted Fairfield County from July 26 through 28.
This declaration makes low-interest loans available to impacted homes and businesses that sustained uninsured losses of 40% or more of the estimated fair replacement value. Fairfield County and the contiguous counties of Franklin, Hocking, Licking, Perry, and Pickaway are eligible to apply for Business Physical Disaster Loans, Economic Injury Disaster Loans, and Home Disaster Loans.
The application filing deadline for physical damage will be Nov. 12, 2025, and for economic damage, the deadline is June 12, 2026.

Ohio's Historical Underground Railroad Trail [ [link removed] ]
Ohio is making it easier than ever for travelers to walk in the footsteps of freedom seekers. Governor DeWine, the Ohio Department of Development, and TourismOhio announced [ [link removed] ] the continued growth of the Ohio Historical Underground Railroad Trail, adding seven new primary sites and four secondary sites to the statewide route.
The expansion comes as Ohio recognizes September as International Underground Railroad Month, to honor the courage of freedom seekers and the communities that helped them.
“We are proud that Ohio played such a pivotal role in the Underground Railroad,” said Governor DeWine. “Through this trail, we are inviting the world to see the rich history that makes Ohio such a special place to explore.”

Cedar Falls, Hocking Hills State Park
Governor DeWine and ODNR Director Mary Mertz announced that Ohio State Parks [ [link removed] ] has been named the best park system in the nation for providing excellent recreation programs and services.
Ohio was awarded the 2025 National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management this morning from the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration, in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association. Ohio earned the Gold Medal Award over fellow finalists Florida and Wyoming.
“Our state parks protect Ohio’s natural resources while providing incredible opportunities for people to explore, learn, and connect with nature,” said Governor DeWine. “From protecting natural resources to creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences, Ohio state parks are truly for everyone. We are thrilled to be recognized as the best in the nation.”

Governor DeWine announced [ [link removed] ] that Ohio Department of Medicaid Director Maureen Corcoran informed him that she will leave her position, effective October 31, 2025.
“I wish Director Corcoran the very best in this next chapter,” said Governor DeWine. “Maureen has served the people of Ohio well throughout her career in public service, and I am grateful to her dedication and commitment to her fellow Ohioans.”

Governor DeWine and Lt. Governor Tressel honored longtime race announcer Roger Huston by proclaiming September 18, 2025 as Roger Huston Day in the state of Ohio. Huston began announcing at the Little Brown Jug in 1967.
