I want to be absolutely clear: I oppose political violence in all forms. We will not solve our problems with violence — not now, not ever.
But what happened to Jimmy Kimmel this week should concern all of us.
ABC has indefinitely suspended Kimmel after he commented on the murder of Charlie Kirk and the MAGA movement during his regular monologue. Donald Trump has wasted no time in weaponizing this incident to silence his critics and attack our First Amendment rights.
This isn’t about journalistic standards. Kimmel is a late night talk show host, not a reporter. This is about a major corporation folding under the slightest pressure from Trump and his far-right allies.

Censorship of free speech is a cornerstone of authoritarianism. This is how democracy erodes — one silenced voice at a time, one corporation bowing to MAGA intimidation after another. If they can shut down a national talk show host, how long will it be before they come after organizers, activists, and lawmakers who refuse to toe their line?
That’s why I won’t stop fighting. Our democracy depends on people being willing to speak truth to power — especially when it makes the powerful uncomfortable.
