John,
I am so proud of the Brady Legal team and excited that I get to share this huge news with you: Brady’s legal experts and co-counsel just concluded the historic trial of the largest ghost gun dealer in Maryland, winning the largest ever verdict dealt against a gun company in American history. The jury awarded the City of Baltimore $62 million in damages after the gun dealer supplied the streets of Baltimore with deadly, untraceable ghost guns.
Brady just set the historic precedent that there are consequences for dealers who capitalize on crime to feed their bottom line; The gun dealers and manufacturers who’ve proliferated lethal weapons in our communities are not protected from punishment.

This historic victory is just the beginning of holding gun dealers accountable. We’re working this nefarious industry from all angles and we need your support to keep up the fight. If you’re with us, will you donate now and support more of Brady’s critical legal work?

For years, Hanover Armory supplied Baltimore’s streets with unserialized, untraceable firearms called “ghost guns.” Gun dealers know what they’re doing when they advertise these deadly weapons. In the case of Hanover Armory, they touted that “nobody will know you have it.” It was predictable that ghost guns would get into the hands of purchasers with criminal records, gun traffickers, and minors – ghost guns were recovered from kids as young as 13 years old.

For two weeks, the Brady legal team worked around the clock to ensure that Hanover Armory was held accountable for the harm it caused the City of Baltimore. This is part of Brady’s ongoing work to stem the proliferation of ghost guns into our communities – and I want to show our tireless team that Brady activists are with them. Will you support our continued legal efforts by donating now?

Brady’s legal team argued to the jury that Hanover Armory thought they figured out a convenient trick to tap into the criminal and juvenile market for guns: Sell guns disassembled in a box, call them “kits,” and throw those “pesky laws” that are in place to stop gun dealers from selling guns to kids and criminals out the window – laws like conducting Brady Background Checks and keeping records of sales.
|
The deadly impact was immediate. Sold without background checks or serial numbers, law enforcement can’t track ghost guns back to the buyer after they’re recovered. Brady’s legal team argued Hanover Armory thought they pulled the wool over the regulators’ eyes. But we weren’t going to let them get away with deadly business practices so easily.
|
Deadly ghost guns undermine the gun laws that keep us safe, and negligent dealers must be held accountable for propelling the preventable bloodshed across the country. This historic victory in Baltimore is only the start of our legal team holding gun dealers and the evil industry accountable and changing their practices to make all Americans safer. Your support means more lives saved: Will you donate today and help Brady keep achieving historic wins in the fight to end gun violence?

Thank you for being in this fight, John.
