Hey y'all, Meeting with voters directly and listening to their stories is key to any successful grassroots campaign. I’m proud to be building a movement that includes folks from all walks of life – and, if you’re reading this, that includes you! Equally important is making sure that people get to know more about me. You deserve to know who I am and what I stand for. That’s why I’m so excited to announce our campaign’s first online Q&A. You’ll have a chance to ask me anything – whether it be about my time in the NFL, my proudest moments as a civil rights lawyer, a behind-the-scenes look into last year’s campaign against Ted Cruz, or even… what it was really like to meet Beyoncé at that rally in Austin. So if you have any burning questions, please be sure to submit them at this link or by using the button below. Weirdly enough, I’ve always enjoyed being in the hot seat and answering questions from voters – even as a senior at Hillcrest High School here in Dallas. Back in 2000, I ran for class president. It was a tough fight. It was heated. It was personal. To quote my principal, Vickie Richie, who was interviewed for a hard-hitting piece on the race by the Dallas Morning News: “This is the most competitive I’ve ever seen it get.” My running mate and I campaigned throughout the school hallways, at the cafeteria, and stationed in the parking lot. We would sit on top of a silver Toyota Land Cruiser plastered with signs, and – much to our classmates’ chagrin – take full advantage of our karaoke sound system before first period to rally the crowd. Early bird gets the worm, as they say! I ended up winning that class president race – but more importantly, it taught me life lessons that I still carry with me today: the power of listening, making myself accessible to folks, and never losing sight of the people you were elected to represent. While the main issues back then were quite different (e.g. raising money for prom and better school lunch options), the importance of introducing myself to voters and proposing solutions to thorny challenges remains the same. Now, as we’re all getting our news from different sources – and as my universe of voters has grown from my senior class in Dallas ISD to the entire state of Texas – it’s never been more critical that you hear from me personally. I hope you’ll take this opportunity to ask me your questions. I can’t wait to answer them. Please click here to ask me anything. Thanks so much, Colin Colin Allred is a 4th-generation Texan, former NFL linebacker, Civil Rights Lawyer, and Democratic Congressman running for U.S. Senate. Multiple polls already show him in the lead – including the most recent poll from this race that has him up by 2 points – but with corporate PACs and right-wing millionaires pouring money into Texas to stop him, he relies on supporters like you to fund his campaign. If you believe in his work to stop the corruption in Washington, please consider donating to his campaign today. Paid for by Allred for Texas |
