Rep. Skidmore takes action against so called “Crisis Pregnancy Centers”

Taking away Floridians’ access to abortion care goes beyond the 6-week abortion ban, it involves defunding real reproductive healthcare providers and redirecting those funds to anti-abortion nonprofits disguised as medical providers.
Each year, Republicans in Tallahassee give approximately $29.5 MILLION in state funds to a network of so called “crisis pregnancy centers.” These centers pose as medical clinics for pregnant women, but are often unlicensed, unregulated, and do not provide any real medical care. Instead, they pressure pregnant women in their most vulnerable moments to forgo an abortion– no matter the risks to their personal health or well-being.
There are now over 145 explicitly anti-abortion pregnancy centers operating in Florida - and Representative Kelly Skidmore is fighting to save our tax dollars from funding these untrustworthy, heavily biased “clinics.”
This is why electing pro-choice women matters like Rep. Skidmore. They are on the front lines of fighting for sensible, safe public health policies and plans. As Rep. Skidmore stated, “Florida families deserve medical care that is comprehensive, transparent, and delivered by licensed professionals,” – and we couldn’t agree more.
Pro-choice women legislators like Rep. Skidmore need our support, both along the campaign trail and as advocates in Tallahassee. We will be closely watching HB 6001, and ready to mobilize in support of this initiative.
