Happy Hispanic Heritage Month Community!
What started as a week-long observance has turned into a month-long celebration of the diverse Latino and Hispanic community in San Diego and across our country.
This Hispanic Heritage month we honor the diversity, resilience, and contributions of the Hispanic community here at home.
The Latino and Hispanic communities are a pillar in San Diego’s history and culture.
From activists like Gracia Molina who helped to create the first associate degree in Chicano studies in the country, to landmarks like Chicano Park, home to the largest concentration of Chicano murals in the world.
Here in District 4 we are proud to house the Centro Cultural de la Raza and Old Town San Diego that teach us about the rich, vibrant, and resilient history of these communities.
In a time when our Hispanic and Latino neighbors are being targeted by the current administration, we will stand in solidarity and celebrate this community all month long.
