John —
The president’s persistent attacks on the press and free speech are putting our First Amendment rights at grave risk.
Stephen Colbert’s show cancelled.
Suits against the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and 60 Minutes.
Extorting settlements from CBS, ABC, and others.
Blocking the AP's access to the White House.
And the latest — my friend Jimmy Kimmel’s show was pulled off the air after Trump’s Federal Communications Commission chair threatened to pull the network’s license — something he lacks the power to do.
The Trump Administration is responsible for the most blatant attacks on the free press in American history.
And it’s not even close.
Any word of opposition spoken against Trump results in retribution — whether you are a mega-corporation, a comedian, a politician, or simply an activist voicing your opinion.
This is a dangerous precedent — another step as Trump does all he can to consolidate power, silence opponents, and turn our democracy into an autocracy.
John, what will be left of the First Amendment when he’s done?
We cannot be scared into silence. We need to continue speaking out, attending rallies, and voicing our opinions.
We must continue to do oversight, uncover this malfeasance, and use every tool at our disposal to fight it.
Trump and his allies will try to punish those who speak out. They’ll throw insults and attacks our way. But we cannot back down. And I won’t.
Pitch in to help amplify our voices against Trump and his attack on the First Amendment. Your support helps me speak out and fight back.
