It's time to say, Enough! As Pennsylvania Governor JB Pritzker put it, “Tyranny requires your fear, your silence, and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage.”
Since last week, we’ve watched our president, our governor, and their allies cynically use a tragic killing as a convenient excuse to crack down on their enemies and silence our constitutionally protected right to free speech.
The attacks are blatant. Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel was suspended from ABC for having a free and open conversation that President Trump didn't like. Here in Texas, Governor Greg Abbott is using the same authoritarian playbook, demanding the firing of employees and the expulsion of students exercising free speech he doesn't like.
Ground Game Texas is on the front lines organizing, educating, and getting out the vote in Texas, in order to build the power we need to elect leaders that will protect our rights, not attack them.
But we can't do it without you.
"Free speech for me but not for thee" is not in the US Constitution. Free speech is only free if every American can exercise that right, regardless of their politics. It's going to take all of us making a brave stand and saying, enough!
