President Trump's FCC chair is threatening the media.
ACLU Supporter, the Trump administration pressuring ABC to suspend Jimmy Kimmel's show over his comments on Charlie Kirk is beyond McCarthyism and an extreme abuse of power.
In case you missed it, the FCC chair this week called on ABC affiliates to inform ABC that they would not carry Kimmel's show, and pointed out the power that the FCC has over the broadcasting licenses of the affiliates. In response, ABC announced they're suspending Jimmy Kimmel "indefinitely."
This came just two days after President Trump sued the book publisher Penguin Random House, the New York Times, and four of their reporters for stories the president disliked.
Jimmy Kimmel is just the latest target of the Trump administration's unconstitutional plan to silence its critics and control what the American people watch, say, and read. The Trump administration's actions, paired with ABC's capitulation, represent a grave threat to our First Amendment freedoms.
We all have a constitutional right to express ourselves, and we at the ACLU aren't scared. We won't back down defending that right.
More soon,
