This week has brought some exciting news out of Minnesota: Governor Tim Walz announced he’s running for re-election. If you have a moment, I'd like to share what I’ve learned about Tim from my time working with him - and why I’m so proud to support his campaign.

Tim has always been about service to others – as a National Guardsman, as a teacher, and now as governor. 

Under his leadership, Minnesota has shown the country what it looks like when government actually works for people: Child poverty has gone down. Labor rights are stronger. Every student gets free breakfast and lunch at school. And the state continues to invest in education, opportunity, and freedom so that Minnesotans have what they need to live lives of their choosing. 

That progress, these results, are worth defending. 

Nothing is easy in politics and public service today. Donald Trump and his allies are at work to divide Americans, to erode trust in our institutions, and to dismantle the some of the very basics that families count on – from Social Security and Medicare to the freedoms we all deserve. 

The answer to division and cynicism is leadership rooted in service — and leaders like Tim Walz remind us what it looks like when government reflects our best values.
