John—
The decision that came out of the Supreme Court in June Medical Services, LLC v. Russo this week is important for preserving access to abortion care in Louisiana.
But the truth is, what we won was the freedom to fight another day. And the fight to protect critical access to abortion is far from over.
Louisiana’s clinic shutdown law may have been ruled unconstitutional, but anti-choice extremists are still working overtime to gut Roe v. Wade and do everything in their power to deny us our freedoms.
We can’t become complacent. We need to ensure that abortion is legal and accessible in all 50 states. The best way to do that right now is to urge your representative in Congress to pass the Women’s Health Protection Action (WHPA). WHPA is a crucial piece of legislation that would safeguard our reproductive freedom and expand abortion access nationwide.
Add your name now to demand that Congress hold a vote on WHPA now.
We need Congress to pass WHPA to guarantee every body's right to abortion in every city, county, and state in the United States — even if Roe is gutted or state legislators try to restrict abortion access locally. It’s a crucial piece of the puzzle, alongside efforts such as the fight to end abortion coverage bans that disproportionately harm people of color and people with lower incomes, and ensuring that reproductive freedom is truly for every body.
The House has already held a hearing on WHPA, but in order to get this critical legislation to a vote on the House floor, your representative needs to hear from you.
Add your name now to tell Congress to protect access to abortion care across the country.
Thanks for all you do to make reproductive freedom a reality for every body, everywhere.
Sincerely,
Ilyse Hogue President, NARAL Pro-Choice America
With the support of people like you, we can make sure that freedom is for every body.
