Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry announces second annual Workplace Rights Week

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) today announced the second annual Workplace Rights Week, taking place Sept. 21-27. Gov. Tim Walz has officially proclaimed [ [link removed] ] the week to recognize the importance of protecting workers’ rights and supporting employer compliance with Minnesota labor laws.

“Workplace Rights Week is an opportunity to connect directly with workers and employers across the state,” said DLI Commissioner Nicole Blissenbach. “We want every worker in Minnesota to understand their rights and every employer to have the tools they need to follow the law.”

Throughout the week, DLI will partner with community organizations, employers and other state agencies to host educational events focused on key workplace protections. Topics will include earned sick and safe time, wage and hour laws, and worker safety and protections. State agency staff members and community partners will visit businesses, host mobile clinics to answer in-person questions and share information via social media to promote workplace rights.

As part of the week’s activities, Blissenbach will visit a mobile clinic at the Bloomington CareerForce Center on Monday, Sept. 22 at 1:30 p.m., to kick off the week and highlight the importance of labor laws in building strong, resilient communities where all Minnesotans know their rights.

“Whether it’s through community events, workplace visits or multilingual resources, we’re committed to making sure all Minnesotans have access to the information they need to exercise their workplace rights,” Blissenbach said.
