Independence Day Edition!

Celebrate America

What to Know: As we move into the Independence Day weekend, let’s take time to celebrate the unique and inspiring American story.

“Even though it’s not fashionable today in the American media, we’re going to be celebrating America,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “It’s not just because we all ought to be celebrating Independence Day, but because America is under attack. I say not as someone who engages in hyperbole, but as someone who wakes up every day grateful and blessed to be an American.”

No Fear on the Fourth

What to Know: Independence Day celebrations throughout the nation are seeking to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The TPPF Take: COVID-19 should be respected—but not feared.

“The messaging from leadership and the medical community should be clear: ‘Yes, we have increase in the cases but we do not have an increase in mortality,’” says TPPF guest contributor Dr. Katarina Lindley, D.O., FACOFP. “We need to protect vulnerable populations, practice common sense and protect ourselves and our families by being aware of the risks while trying to live a normal life. COVID-19 is here to stay, but we should not allow it to take our freedom and liberties away.”

Declaring Independence

What to Know: The CEO of a billion-dollar firm says he’s leaving Seattle and coming to Texas “so that my employees can be free.”

The TPPF Take: Welcome to the Lone Star State!

“People move to Texas because they’re attracted to the Lone Star State’s jobs and opportunity,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore, who came to Texas after serving in the California Assembly. “States that drive them away—with high taxes and ridiculous regulatory burdens—would do better to imitate what works: liberty.”
