Dear Friend,
After a 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on August 31, families and children have been left devastated by calamitous levels of destruction. According to initial reports, more than 500,000 people have been affected, with children making up more than half of them.
UNICEF teams were on the ground within 72 hours, delivering prepositioned emergency supplies along with urgent health, nutrition and WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) services, cash assistance and child protection support. |

Additionally, UNICEF and partners are prioritizing the deployment of female humanitarian workers to ensure that women and girls can access support safely and equitably.
Support from donors like you helped UNICEF address the immediate needs of children swiftly and at scale — but the road to recovery is a long one. Over the next six months, UNICEF’s earthquake response aims to reach 400,000 people, including 212,000 children, in Afghanistan — and we need your continued support to achieve this goal.
With your support UNICEF can reach even more children whenever and wherever they need help. Please, will you donate to bring relief to children in crisis? |
Thank you for being there for children,
UNICEF USA
