Dear friend,
We condemn the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk last week. As Governor Beshear said, "Whether or not I agreed or disagreed with anything he said, he's got two kids at home that love their dad like my kids love me. So this is not red or blue, it's just wrong."
Governor Beshear reminded us: "I know how angry it can make you, but anger doesn't help us heal. Lashing out at groups of people cannot be the answer to creating a better Commonwealth and better country."
As Kentucky Democrats, we stand for peaceful political discourse and reject attempts to weaponize this tragedy. As Governor Beshear said, "You can't fan the flames and then condemn the fire."
Our hearts go out to Charlie Kirk's family during this difficult time. Our democracy depends on all of us standing up for what's right, staying engaged in our communities, and choosing unity over division. We'll keep doing that work here in Kentucky, and would be honored to have your support in that mission.
In peace,
Kentucky Democratic Party
