Good morning!
I hope you enjoyed the surprise streak of warmer weather this week. I knew it was too good to be true when we had a few days of fall temperatures so early. Regardless, it looks like we have some rain in the forecast over the weekend, so I hope you were able to enjoy the beautiful weather this week while it lasted.
Beware: MN Dept. of Revenue Scam
I want to draw your attention to a scam text message I received earlier this week. Below is a screenshot of this fraudulent request, seemingly from the MN Dept. of Revenue. Note that this is from an unconventional phone number, requesting payment, and demanding urgent action. DO NOT click the link or go to the website. The actual MN Dept. of Revenue or other government agencies will not text you like this. Please report this as scam if you receive it and do not comply with their requests!

Walz Announces His Run for Re-election
The rumors become true this week when Walz officially announced his campaign for re-election. Walz would be the first ever to serve 3 consecutive 4-year terms as governor, and after seeing his track record over the first two terms I know we cannot afford it as a state. His recent campaign video was released, and there are some farfetched "accomplishments" compared to what has actually happened here over the last 8 years. Check out his campaign announcement compared to the real truth here [ [link removed] ].

In the midst of this announcement, the governor’s “promise” of a special session for gun control legislation is looking more like political posturing than a serious plan. No date has been set, nor has any timeline been offered, but I will let you know if I hear anything further.
In the meantime, some members of the Senate have been meeting to discuss potential legislation relating to gun control. You can view their most recent 'working group' hearing here [ [link removed] ].
Additionally, the Fraud Committee had another hearing to discuss concerning revelations in the state's housing stabilization program. Representatives from the program, including a temporary commissioner, attended the meeting to testify. You can watch that hearing here [ [link removed] ].
Shoutouts
September is Minnesota School Board Recognition Month, so I want to give a shoutout to our school board members across the district. They hold an important position in our community, and I am grateful for their work.
Events
Now that fall sports are in full swing, there are plenty of games to watch this weekend. Check out Osakis [ [link removed] ] football and tennis, or a whole swath of Alexandria [ [link removed] ] high school sports. I hope you have a great weekend!
