John,

AT&T says Black Lives Matter.

But the truth is, the company has donated thousands to far right Senator
Tom Cotton -- who has called for the military to violently put down the
protests.

In two days new CEO John Stankey takes the reigns. As his first act he
needs to prove that AT&T’s support for the Black Lives Matter movement
isn’t just empty words by ending all financial support to racist
politicians.

Brands have never been more sensitive to public backlash. So we’re going
to take out a full-page ad in the biggest paper in Dallas, home to AT&T,
with the names of thousands of signers and donors calling on Stankey to
make this his first act as new CEO. Can you help make it happen?

to tell AT&T: no more support for racist politicians

Outgoing CEO Randall Stephenson tried to position AT&T as a corporate ally
of the Black Lives Matter movement. Just days ago he said the protests
were “...about justice. And when you’re dealing with issues of just basic
core justice that every CEO, every leader in America needs to step up and
ask, ‘What is the right thing to do?’”

But he failed to address AT&T’s hypocrisy in propping up far-right
politicians like Tom Cotton.

So on day one of his new job, we’re going to push all in, calling him out
by name in AT&T’s hometown newspaper. Will you chip in

to help push him to do the right thing?

There’s no mistaking where Tom Cotton stands. He’s advocated “sending in
the troops” to silence protests, arresting journalists for reporting
truths he doesn’t like, and for the unlimited right to torture prisoners.

If Stankey fails to cut off these donations, Cotton’s appalling views
should stick to the CEO forever.

Or -- he can fix it now. Let’s make sure he does:

We’re at an unprecedented moment, where the cries of injustice that have
been made by communities of color for so long are finally starting to be
heard. But now is the time for action, not just empty words. Let’s make
sure John Stankey hears that loud and clear.

Thanks for all that you do,
Vicky, Nick, and the team at SumOfUs
