Christopher Luxon has pushed New Zealand to the edge of another recession. New data shows the economy has shrunk nearly 1% in the last three months.
Two years ago, Christopher Luxon stood in front of New Zealanders and promised over and over that his "business experience" would fix the cost of living and grow our economy. He hasn’t just failed – he’s made things worse.
You don't need me to tell you what this means – you're living it every single day.
Tighter household budgets. Less money in your pocket while bills keep climbing. Fewer job opportunities in your community.
While our economy shrank, Australia's economy grew by 0.6%. Proof Christopher Luxon and Nicola Willis simply don't have what it takes.
For two years, they have put property speculators ahead of families. Overseas investors ahead of small business owners. Fossil fuel companies ahead of lowering your power bills.
Every day National remains in power, more jobs are lost, more businesses close, more families struggle, and more Kiwis pack up and leave because their own country can't offer them a future.
Christopher Luxon is out of touch with what New Zealand needs and has no plan to turn things around. Instead of taking responsibility, he is blaming others.
He has says he just needs more time. But how much more damage can New Zealand afford? The answer is clear: New Zealand cannot afford another three years of this Government.
We cannot afford three more years of economic decline, rising costs, and job losses.
Labour will build an economy that works for everyone – not just the wealthy few. We will back the skills and talent of New Zealanders, create better, higher-paid jobs, and give people the certainty they need to build their futures here at home.
Under Christopher Luxon, New Zealand is heading in the wrong direction, fast. Labour is ready to deliver the change New Zealand desperately needs.
