Dear John,
September is here, and already many red and orange leaves are peeking out among the green. The end of summer is always bittersweet, but we’re excited for all that fall has to offer, including one of our favorite events of the year – the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) Common Ground Country Fair!
The fair begins tomorrow, 9/19, and goes through Sunday, 9/21. We’ll be there every day from 9 AM - 5 PM at a table in the Environmental Concerns tent. Come find us using this map of the fairgrounds [[link removed]] . There’s still time to grab a ticket [[link removed]] if you haven’t yet.
This year, we’ll be talking about one of our policy priorities for the upcoming legislative session – a Maine Climate Superfund . Carried over from last year’s session, this bill is based on the fundamental principle that if you make a mess, you clean up after it . It would ensure that the world’s largest oil and gas companies pay for the damage they’ve caused to Maine through accelerating the climate crisis.
Our table will also have important information about this year’s statewide ballot Question 1 . It’s important you know the facts before casting your ballot this fall, and we’re here to help you understand why a no vote would protect absentee voting in Maine.
We’re so excited to connect with many of you in person and celebrate rural living in Maine at the Common Ground Country Fair!
See you at the fair,
Maggie
