Friend, this is not normal.

CBS canceling Colbert might be dismissed as a one-off. But ABC canceling Kimmel makes it clear: this isn’t a fluke — it’s a pattern.

Here’s what happened: Yesterday, Trump's hand-picked Federal Communications Commission Chair threatened to take away ABC’s broadcast license over comments Kimmel made on air, saying, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way."

Not long after, Nexstar Media – the biggest TV station owner in the U.S. – said it would pull Kimmel's show from the air on its ABC stations. Within hours, ABC announced Jimmy Kimmel Live! was cancelled indefinitely.

Then, President Trump took to social media to celebrate, showing just how corrupt this truly is. 

This isn’t about one comedian or TV show. This is a dangerous attack on free speech. This is about whether any one of us can speak freely without fear of government retaliation.

Our nation was founded on the belief that the media should work in freedom, not in fear. When a president and his government censor voices, all of our freedoms are at risk.
