Banning medication abortion through our local pharmacies.

NARAL Pro-Choice America recently changed its name to Reproductive Freedom for All. Our name may be new, but our mission of protecting and expanding reproductive freedom remains the same.

Imagine this:

You need mifepristone, a pill used for the majority of abortions in the country, as well as miscarriage care. Your doctor prescribes it for you. You go to your local pharmacy to pick it up. The pharmacist says they no longer dispense mifepristone, so they can't help you.

You live in a state where abortion is legal. So why can't you access mifepristone for a medication abortion at your local pharmacy?

Because anti-abortion groups pressured corporate businesses into no longer dispensing it. Nationwide pharmacy chains are the main dispensers of medication abortion pills. If they stop dispensing them, that's one step closer to a national ban on medication abortion.

This is the future anti-abortion groups are working towards. They're not waiting for state legislatures or the federal government to ban medication abortion—they're targeting the businesses that dispense abortion pills now.

STOCK MIFEPRISTONE

Last month, Costco made a public statement saying they would not carry mifepristone. They caved to anti-abortion extremists. Choosing not to sell mifepristone aligns businesses with harmful, misleading narratives and extremist groups who want to undermine access to abortion care.

Sign our petition demanding that our pharmacies stock medication abortion.

Anti-abortion extremist groups started with Costco and plan to target CVS and Walgreens next.

Not on our watch.

We need to be expanding access to care every way we can, including through trusted brick-and-mortar pharmacies. We need companies to recognize there is demand for medication abortion, and they should listen to the science to ensure everybody has access to essential health care.
