I want to be clear: what happened to Jimmy Kimmel yesterday isn’t just politics as usual — it’s dangerous.

Donald Trump leaned on the FCC to pressure Disney to take Jimmy Kimmel Live off the air. Why? Because Jimmy used his platform to poke fun at Trump and hold him accountable.

If a president can muzzle a late-night comedian, what’s next? Journalists? Artists? Everyday Americans who dare to speak up? That’s not the America I believe in.

Our Constitution guarantees freedom of speech, not freedom only for the powerful or the politically convenient. Once we allow those lines to blur, democracy itself starts to unravel.
