Dear friends,
As we delve into this school year, I write to extend an exciting opportunity for high schoolers living or attending school in Virginia’s Fourth District!
Applications for the Virginia’s Fourth District Youth Advisory Council (YAC) close Friday, September 19 at 11:59 pm. The Council brings together high school students (grades 9-12) to discuss and tackle issues affecting Washington today.
The Council meets online monthly from October to May where students:
- Discuss bills
- Share ideas
- Vote on recommendations for work in Congress
- Get to meet with my D.C. and district staff — and me!
The program connects students with my amazing team, provides insight into the legislative process and builds leadership and advocacy skills. It also gives students a chance to form lasting connections with peers while gaining experience valued by colleges.
To apply, students need to submit the form with their resume and three application essays. Please access the application form here.
