Happy Independence Day from the Bill of Rights Institute!
Did you know that July 2 was the day John Adams believed should have been America's birthday? Check out our newest video as we share exciting updates on what BRI is up to this summer, and what we have planned for the fall, from our virtual and in-person programs to new digital resource releases!
This coming Monday, July 6, 2020, we are thrilled to announce the long-awaited launch of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, a first-of-its-kind, all-digital, high school U.S. History textbook. Make sure you're signed up for updates!
We've planned a busy fall for in-person seminars in multiple regions across the nation. From Albuquerque and Atlanta to Grand Rapids and Hartford to Tulsa and Vancouver, we are hoping to cover more geographic locations in one semester than ever before. As always, all of these professional development workshops are free, scholar-led, and include ready-to-use primary source-based classroom activities.
Please check the website to find out if we're coming to your neck of the woods, and to register.
We introduced a new series of videos this summer, close readings of various primary sources including the latest on George Caleb Bingham's painting, The County Election. Mary and Rachel study Bingham's 19th-century painting to discover what it can teach us about American democracy. What themes did Bingham display that are still relevant today? How optimistic was he about American society? Check out the entire series on our YouTube channel.
