Men & HIV: Insights from sub-Saharan Africa

AIDS 2020 Conference

Dear Colleague,

Why are men less likely than women to access to HIV services?

An 8 July session of the virtual AIDS 2020 conference will address this question, highlighting the findings of formative assessments conducted in sub-Saharan Africa to understand why men have lower rates of HIV testing, treatment, and viral suppression compared to women and how programs are working to engage men in HIV prevention and treatment.

Organized by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Health Organization, and the International AIDS Society, the satellite session will launch a new supplement of the Journal of the International AIDS Society that examines this formative work, including evaluations of interventions conducted to increase men’s use of HIV services.
