Friend, Trump wants to build a “Golden Dome.” It’s a trillion-dollar mistake in the making.

If you’re not familiar, the Golden Dome is Trump’s proposal for a large-scale missile defense system. Experts disagree on whether the proposal makes strategic sense or would even be feasible. They do agree, however, that it would be very, very, very expensive.

It is a defense contractor’s dream and a taxpayer’s nightmare.

And it says a lot about Trump and the GOP’s priorities that they are willing to spend another trillion dollars on a previously unnecessary missile defense system immediately after slashing about a trillion dollars in Medicaid funding, kicking millions of Americans off their health care plans.

But what do we expect from the party that made it a top priority to rename the Department of Defense to the Department of War.

Friend — If we have money to build an unprecedented and unnecessary missile defense system, we have the money to provide healthcare, housing, and a quality education to each and every American.

Our dollars are better spent on hospitals and schools than bombs and missiles. That's a value that I bring with me to the Senate every day, and another reason that we must win back Congress and the White House from the pro-war, anti-health care Republican party.
