Elad Strohmayer is the Spokesperson of the Embassy of Israel to the United States in Washington D.C., a role he assumed in July 2018. As the Spokesperson, he serves as a resource for editors, journalists and broadcasters to receive information and official statements on issues relating to Israel. Elad joined Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in February 2010. Upon completing his diplomatic training, he assumed his first post as the Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of Israel in Luanda, Angola in November 2010. In August 2012, he became the Deputy Consul General at Israel’s Consulate General in Philadelphia. In September 2015, he returned to Israel and served as a Desk Officer in the North America Division of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focusing on Canada, U.S.-Israel Relations and special projects in North America. He served in this capacity until his departure to Washington in July 2018.

Before joining the Israeli Foreign Service, he worked for the Jewish Agency in Israel for 8 years. Elad holds a BA degree in Political Science and International Relations and an MA degree in International Relations – Diplomacy and Security Studies, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Elad is married to Oren Ben-Yosef and is a native of Bat-Yam, Israel, a suburb of Tel Aviv. He is fluent in Hebrew and English, with a working knowledge of Portuguese and French.
