Friend,
As the new school year is kicking off, I’ve been reflecting on my time as a young kid here in America and the education opportunities that were afforded to me because of my parents’ sacrifices.
I was born in Taiwan, but when I was just three and a half years old, my family immigrated to the United States. My parents worked hard to give us a better life, selling gifts and jewelry at flea markets to put food on the table. They eventually ended up running six gift stores, and my brother and I would help them out as teenagers.
Because of my parents’ hard work, sacrifice, and achievement of the American Dream, I ended up getting my undergraduate degree at Stanford.
I have so much love for this country – the country that made my parents’ dreams a reality. That love and appreciation are what guided me in my decision to join the U.S. Air Force on active duty, and what still guides me every day in Congress.
Our immigrant communities make our country strong. I am proud to be an immigrant and proud to call America home.
Support my work to protect immigrants from Trump’s policies, and help us make sure the American Dream is still achievable >> <[link removed]>
