Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has shown that he is unfit to serve as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Since taking office, he has fired senior CDC officials, stacked advisory boards with anti-vaccine activists, and revoked federal support for life-saving mRNA vaccines. These reckless actions put lives at risk, weaken America’s ability to fight future pandemics, and spread dangerous misinformation that undermines trust in science.

Kennedy told Congress that “nobody knows” how many lives COVID vaccines saved, ignoring overwhelming scientific evidence that proves tens of millions of lives were preserved worldwide. He has falsely smeared CDC scientists as corrupt, repeated debunked lies about vaccines and autism, and compared public health protections during the pandemic to Nazi death camps.

He has even promoted racist pseudoscience, suggesting that Black people’s immune systems are fundamentally different from white people’s and that vaccine schedules should differ by race. These claims echo a long and ugly history of medical racism.

This is reckless mismanagement, conspiracy-driven leadership, and a direct threat to the health and safety of every American. Public health professionals, bipartisan lawmakers, and leading medical organizations are raising the alarm.

Every day Kennedy remains in office, he continues to dismantle vital vaccine programs, undermine top scientists, and erode the trust that Americans place in public health.

His leadership has already forced out career experts and rolled back safeguards that save lives, and if this continues unchecked, vaccination rates will fall, preventable diseases will spread, and the United States will lose its ability to respond effectively to public health crises.

Congress has both the authority and the responsibility to act. They cannot sit back while America’s top health agency is led by a figure who rejects evidence, pushes conspiracy theories, and prioritizes ideology over science. Allowing Kennedy to remain in this powerful position sets a precedent that politics can erase decades of medical progress, and that is a price too high for America to pay.

Every day that Kennedy remains in office, he does more harm, and that is why urgent action is needed now.
