Since Alexandria was first elected, a lot of people have worked overtime to fear-monger about Democratic socialism. Do you know what it means?
It means we value the integrity of our democracy and society over the love of capital — which is what we have right now.
This week, a new poll shows that 74% of Democrats prefer Democratic socialism over capitalism:
The poll shows that even 58% of Republicans agree that our economic system is “rigged in favor of corporations and the wealthy.”1
It seems more and more people agree: in the wealthiest nation in the history of the world, when a person gets sick, they shouldn’t go bankrupt.
Common sense.
That a minimum wage should cover the minimum cost to live. Common sense.
People like to paint Alexandria as extreme, but the reality is that we’re fighting to protect what should be basic rights — things like healthcare and voting.
