Hi John,

Hans is one step further in his fight for financial transparency. That’s because of YOU.

Because taxfighters like you stepped up and donated, the CTF was able to partner with First Nations activist Hans McCarthy in his fight for more accountability and transparency in his community.

Hans is a band member of Frog Lake First Nation. Frog Lake’s trust fund, funded by the band’s oil revenues, totaled about $102 million in 2013. Only $8.7 million was left in 2024.

Hans went looking for documents showing what happened to the money in the fund, but both his local leaders and the federal government refused to provide answers.

Because of support from taxfighters like you, Hans and the CTF launched a lawsuit against the federal government to get the documents.

Hans and your CTF lawyers were in Federal Court recently for the hearing on this case. There is no decision yet, but Hans is one step closer to finishing this fight.

Hans recorded a quick video to say thanks to all the CTF supporters that have stood with him in his fight so far. You can check it out here: https://youtube.com/shorts/ADCA_fciH7E?feature=shared

Hans has been fighting for transparency for more than three years. While we were at court, he told me how much he appreciated CTF supporters, from the bottom of his heart, for continuing to fight with him.

Thanks for stepping up and fighting for transparency – it’s making a difference!

Sincerely,

Gage Haubrich
